2019 Home Security Trends
Investing in home security is always a great idea. After all, where else can you feel completely safe if not in the comfort of your home? However, as with everything else, home security trends come and go and if you don’t keep up with them, you might get left behind – or worse still, left unprotected.
We’ve gathered a few trends for the upcoming year that you might want to keep your eye on.
- Alarm systems
A working alarm system has become a standard in the home to keep residents safe and alert the security companies. But, nothing is as worse as your alarm system sending a false alarm. To fix this, what we will see more and more in this field is 2-way voice communication. What makes this trend special is that this will start being administered through the central control panel and not only cellphones.
These central control panels have now become crash-and-smash-proof, protecting you by alerting the security officials, even if burglars try to destroy it as they break in.
- Security Automation
Keeping an eye on your home security is about to be something that is, increasingly, controlled on the go. With video monitoring and streaming, you can always be aware of what’s happening in and around your home, even if you’re not there. New video monitoring is now motion-triggered, which means that it will record every activity around the house, alerting you if anything is unfamiliar. Smart automation is also helpful to control what happens in the home while you’re on the go. Now you can turn lights on and off and maintain ‘normal behaviour’ so as not to give away that you’re not home to intruders.
- Location-based automation
Another exciting trend linked to security automation is geo-fencing. This is about creating a geographical boundary for automated arming and disarming of your property. Depending on the radius you set, you can create specialised settings for when you’re home, away or at work. In this way, you can have the peace of mind that you have full digital control over your home wherever you are.
