Load Shedding in South Africa

Unfortunately, load shedding is, for the foreseeable future, a reality South Africans have to deal with.

Monitoring and security systems, like access control and alarms, are dependent on electricity. What happens when the electricity goes off?

Here’s your safety plan that doesn’t depend on power to keep you safe.

Create safe zones

If you have stairs, install a security gate or shutter barrier in your passage, at the top of the stairs. The Xpandor+ series are trusted security barriers that are mostly used to create safety zones in homes and comprise of several market-leading features such as, double slam-lock and tamperproof handles. The benefit to you is a secure home for you, your family and/or your business.

Burglar-proof your windows

Robbers can get through any window, no matter how small it looks, so check windows first. Xpanda Security has several offerings like the Supaguard range. Supaguard is our most popular option when it comes to fixed burglar guards. It consists of a 12mm solid square bar fixed to the inside of the window opening on all four sides with our patented boot system.

Install security barriers to protect the doors

If you have a security gate on your front and back doors, then you should look at installing additional security barriers, on the other doors, such as those leading to the patio or between the garage and the house. The Saftidor range is your best option. Tried and tested in the field for over 30 years, it is ideal for front, back and passage doors, where one needs a fully retractable gate that is able to swing away, so as not to lose space.
