Our story began in 1974, when we started manufacturing custom physical barrier systems direct to the end customer. Over the last 4 and half decades, as local and global economies changed, we have seen crime, and criminal modus operandi evolve. Xpanda has continued to be at the forefront of research and development in the physical barrier market since we opened for business. We have added multiple product lines within our physical barrier range, including Roller Shutter Doors, Fire Doors, Sectional Overhead Doors and a DIY range that is available at most South African hardware stores. The Xpanda DIY range remain an integral part of the business and we has the enviable position of being the market leader of such products within the retail environment. However, our core focus remains on custom security products for home, commercial and Industrial use.
All Xpanda customers are services through our 3 main offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, and through our extensive national network of Xpanda accredited installers and distributors. With our extensive product range and wide reaching distribution, Xpanda is one of the most comprehensive manufacturers of barrier security products in South Africa.
Today, Xpanda is privileged to serve thousands of customers annually, manufacturing a wide range of security products to fit the most basic of security needs to complex custom requirements. Production Facilities
Xpanda’s head office and main manufacturing plant is situated in Pinetown, within easy reach of the Durban Harbour in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The site is 12’000m² and our production facility – where all our products are manufactured – occupies 8’100m². Xpanda’s full range of products are distributed from our Pinetown operation to branches and distributors throughout the country and internationally. All our products are manufactured to ISO 9001: 2015 standards and a number of the products manufactured hold insurance industry accreditation.
Xpanda’s manufacturing plant has the facility to manufacture 850 gates, 120 fully framed expanding security doors, 700 burglar guards, 200 SABS rated burglar resistant safes/domestic safe boxes and 20 roller shutter doors per day. In addition to this we manufacture purpose made barrier security to suit your specific requirements and upmarket sectional overhead doors. We have an in-house galvanizing division as well as a state of the art polyester epoxy-powder coating plant.

One of the major advantages within the Argent Group has been the ability to supply stock to the various branches up to three times a week in some areas. All the branches stock the DIY range of products in an effort to reduce lead times to the stores. We are currently stock holding the full DIY range in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban (HO), Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Klerksdorp. Xpanda has a sizable footprint cross border in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Indian Ocean islands and Central Africa.
