In spite of Xpanda’s attention to quality, our product, like all products with a substantial Steel, Aluminium or Stainless content, remain vulnerable when exposed to certain environmental conditions, regardless of the anti-corrosion treatment it received. Although all our colours have a built-in Sun Protection Factor (SPF), the colours can fade over time. If you follow the instructions below, you will increase the lifespan of your security product.

We strongly suggest that you view the maintenance ol other steel products (and Xpanda Security products) In the same way as you view the maintenance of your car i.e. without regular washing and polishing to remove dirt and dust, the condition of your car would soon deteriorate significantly. Your security products should not require such loving attention as your car but will need to be cleaned in a similar fashion.

Here are a few suggeslions on how to keep your Xpanda products looking beautiful and operating smoothly.

Recommended cleaning method:

1. Dip a soft cloth into a diluted mixture of soap and water (regular car wash will do) and wipe down the entire unit.
2. Dry off the unit using a similar soft cloth or chamois.
3. Always lubricate the moving parts of the product after cleaning, using a lubricating SILICONE spray, available from most hardware stores.
4. Should the cylinder lock become a bit difficult to use, try using a DRY lubricant like ‘Just a Puff’, available from most locksmiths. You can also use this product for all your household locks.

What NOT to do:

1. Never use detergent or abrasive cleaners like dish washing liquid, Vim, Handy Andy, thinners etc as this will affect the longevity of the product.
2. Preferably avoid using lubricants such as WD40 or Q20 as these products tends to attract dust, & will affect the moving parts in the long term.

The upkeep of your Roller Shutter Doors (RSD) and Sectional Overheard Doors (SOD) is very important in ensuring the longevity of these products.

If your product is maintained and cleaned as per below suggestions the life span will be increased substantially. In terms on maintaining the product it is suggested that the installed product should be washed down using a car washing liquid or similar diluted in water, using a cloth wipe the product down and then rinse with clean water, dry using a cloth. It is also suggested that once you have washed the installed product that you apply a lubricant spray such as silicone spray or similar. The closer that you are to the coast, so too, does it become more important to maintain the installed product on a more regular basis.

Xpanda guarantees all RSD’s and SOD’s against defective manufacturing.

In spite of Xpanda’s attention to quality, RSD and SOD, like all products with a substantial steel content, remain vulnerable when exposed to certain environmental conditions, regardless of the corrosion treatment they received during production.

As we have little control over what happens to a RSD or SOD after it has been installed at a customer’s premises, we have little choice but to leave the responsibility of maintaining such doors to the customer.

It is thus imperative that RSD and SOD be cleaned and lubricated regularly. Dust and dirt must be removed from the slats or panels and inside of the side guides. The door should be washed or hosed down with a “salt free” solution (car wash solution or similar).

Regularly lubricate the external springs with penetrating oil or similar lubricant.

A small amount of good quality grease can be applied to the inside of the side guides (not applicable to SOD). This should however be avoided in areas exposed to excessive dust and sand. I.e. beachfronts or dusty environments.

In areas which are notorious for their high occurrence of corrosion, such as coastal areas, RSD and SOD will require more frequent cleaning and lubrication.

Avoid installing Galvanised RSD within 500m of the beachfront. Aluminium doors are preferable under these conditions.

NOTE: Thorough and correct routine maintenance ensures that RSD and SOD remain safe to operate, conform to present standards and current legislation in addition to extending the useful life of the product.
